Charcoal provides the depth of tone for the model's dark eyes and dark hair, contrasted with her porcelain skin, which is bright and radiant in the studio spotlight. This contrast creates an intense positive-negative energy throughout the work. I drew this while studying drawing in a short class hosted by the remarkable artist Anthony Bacon Venti.
